If the chosen contact path is also closed in that state, a broken field wire or lost sensing supply will usually make the input FALSE. That is useful because a FALSE signal no longer confirms closure. However, it still does not distinguish among an open breaker, a broken wire, loss of control power and an input-module fault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If that distinction matters, the system needs more information.
